Plant Finance Manager / Controller

What's Awesome About Our Client?

  • It's one of those brands you'd recognize the second you heard the name, and people are genuinely proud to work there.
  • They build their products right here in the US, by hand. Premium stuff, made by people who care about it.
  • The business is solid. Profitable, stable, and it has handled the whole tariff mess better than most because everything is made here.
  • Small, tight-knit teams at both sites. People stick around for years, and everyone owns their lane.
  • This seat only opened because the person in it got promoted. You're stepping into something proven, with room to make it yours, and you can do it in about 40 hours a week.

Why This Job - Plant Finance Manager / Controller

This is a great opportunity to work right here in Bozeman for a well-known American manufacturer. They design and build premium, US-made products, out of their main operation here in the Bozeman area and a second facility on the West Coast.

This is a great opportunity to work right here in Bozeman for a well-known American manufacturer. They design and build premium, US-made products out of their main operation here and a second facility on the West Coast.

It's a name most people would recognize, and there's genuine pride that comes with it. What comes off the line is closer to a work of art than a widget, built by hand by real people, and the business behind it is stable and well run. The teams at both sites are small and tight-knit, folks stick around, and the manager is a good one to work for. He tells you what he needs and the context behind it, then trusts you to own the outcome. The hours are reasonable too, right around 40 a week.

For the right person, the draw is the impact and where it can go. This seat lives close to the plant floor, so most of your value comes from the analysis, and the month-end grind stays light. You'd own the cost and budgeting side for both sites and be the one leadership leans on to make sense of the numbers. There's room to grow, too: this seat opened because the last person got promoted. You'd inherit a model that already works, make it your own, and learn from a manager who has done the job himself.

If that sounds like your kind of seat, let's talk.

What You'll Actually Do:

  • Be the person who knows why the numbers look the way they do. You live close to the production floor and keep the financials lined up with what's really happening out there.
  • Own the efficiency story. You become the go-to on how much labor every unit should take, how the daily product mix changes that, and whether the plant is getting credit for everything it builds. When production wants to know if the day penciled out, they come to you.
  • Get into the true cost of things. Standard costs, bills of material, and the variances underneath them (purchase price, labor, overhead), then dig until you find the why behind each one. This is the work that helps the plant run better.
  • Run the budget and the forecast. You inherit a model that already works, then make it sharper as the business changes, and build the COGS models and cash forecasts leadership plans around.
  • Partner with the materials team and help run the big annual inventory count at year end, keeping the variances (and the surprises) low.
  • Present the monthly results and put them in plain English. You turn a wall of numbers into something leadership and the floor can act on.
  • Weigh in on the big money. When there's a capital project on the table, you run the ROI and payback so the company spends smart.

What You Bring:

  • 6 years in finance or financial analysis, ideally somewhere that makes things. The more time you've spent around manufacturing, the better.
  • Real manufacturing finance chops: standard costing, absorption, cost flows, and variances. This is the piece that matters most, and the hardest to fake.
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience. A lot of controllers never touch it, and here it's a real edge.
  • You know your way around an ERP (Dynamics 365 is a plus, but others carry over) and you're strong in Excel.
  • You can take a pile of complex numbers and explain them to people who don't live in finance, from the plant directors to the folks on the floor.
  • A finance, accounting, or business degree. A CPA, CMA, or MBA is a nice bonus.

Where and How Much:

  • Location: Bozeman, MT. In the office, with a handful of trips a year out to the West Coast site. They'll help with relocation for the right person.
  • Compensation: $145,000 to $165,000 depending on what you bring, plus a bonus and strong benefits.
  • Benefits: Solid medical, dental, and vision, company-paid life and disability, free Teladoc, a 401(k) match, good PTO on top of the holidays, and no waiting period. Your coverage starts the month after you begin.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, right around 40 hours, with room to flex when life comes up.
