Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Safety Director to lead all environmental, health, and safety initiatives for a rapidly growing electrical manufacturing operation in Houston. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting the launch and expansion of a new 150,000 square foot production facility as the company ramps up manufacturing capacity, workforce growth, and operational complexity.

The ideal candidate brings a strong manufacturing safety background combined with experience in electrical manufacturing, metal fabrication, or industrial production environments. This individual will be responsible for building a world-class safety culture from the ground up while partnering closely with operations, engineering, and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and lead all EHS programs, policies, and procedures across the manufacturing facility
  • Build and drive a proactive safety culture focused on accountability, training, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations
  • Lead site safety strategy during facility startup, equipment installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up
  • Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, and warehouse personnel
  • Partner with operations leadership to reduce incidents, improve ergonomics, and drive operational safety performance
  • Manage safety audits, inspections, emergency response planning, and contractor safety programs
  • Establish and track key safety metrics, KPIs, and reporting for leadership review
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental compliance

Qualifications

  • 7 years of progressive EHS leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience in electrical manufacturing, industrial fabrication, metalworking, or heavy industrial operations preferred
  • Proven success supporting large-scale manufacturing expansion, facility startup, or production ramp initiatives
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety, confined space, and PPE programs
  • Experience building safety programs in fast-paced production environments
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred
  • CSP, ASP, CHST, or related certifications are a plus

What We’re Looking For

  • A visible and engaged safety leader who thrives on the manufacturing floor
  • Someone capable of building systems and culture, not just maintaining compliance
  • A leader comfortable working in a growing, evolving operation with significant production expansion
  • A professional who understands both operational realities and world-class safety standards
