Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Deer Park, TX, for a Safety Director at Ambrose Power Construction. The Safety Director provides strategic leadership over the company's entire safety program across all projects, divisions, and operating companies. Sets safety policy, establishes performance targets, manages the safety department, and represents the company on safety matters with clients, insurers, and regulatory bodies. Responsible for building and maintaining a safety culture that results in zero recordable incidents.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain the company's safety vision, policies, and strategic objectives across all operations
- Direct the Safety Manager and Safety Coordinators; manage department staffing, budgets, and resource allocation
- Set annual safety performance targets and track metrics including TRIR, DART, EMR, and leading indicators
- Conduct executive-level reviews of incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans
- Represent the company in client safety pre-qualification meetings, audits, and reviews
- Maintain and manage relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party safety auditors
- Oversee ISNetworld, Avetta, and BROWZ profiles and ensure continuous compliance across all platforms
- Develop and implement company-wide safety training curriculum and ensure field delivery
- Review and approve site-specific safety plans, crane and rigging plans, and high-risk activity procedures
- Monitor regulatory changes (OSHA, NFPA, state) and update company programs accordingly
- Support business development by ensuring safety qualifications and documentation meet or exceed client requirements
- Conduct periodic field safety audits across all active projects and report findings to executive leadership
- Manage the company's workers' compensation program including claims management, return-to-work coordination, and loss control
- Chair the company's safety committee and lead quarterly safety performance reviews
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum 12 years of safety experience in electrical construction, heavy industrial, or utility environments, with at least 5 years in a director-level or senior management role
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification required
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910 and 1926), with emphasis on Subpart V and Subpart CC
- OSHA 500/510 certification required
- Demonstrated experience managing safety programs for high voltage electrical construction
- Experience with ISNetworld, Avetta, and BROWZ pre-qualification systems
- Experience managing workers' compensation programs and interfacing with insurance carriers
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to represent the company in client and regulatory settings
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites
