Automation Controls Engineer

This isn't a programming-only role or an entry-level engineering position.
We're looking for a hands-on Controls Engineer who has supported manufacturing equipment, understands plant operations, and can step in when maintenance needs advanced controls expertise.
Based in Shelbyville, KY, you'll support local manufacturing operations with occasional travel to facilities in Jeffersonville, IN and Farrell, PA (approximately 10%).
What You'll Do
- Design, troubleshoot, and improve PLC and HMI control systems
- Support manufacturing equipment, machine startups, and process improvements
- Partner with maintenance teams to resolve complex controls issues and minimize downtime
- Implement automation upgrades and continuous improvement projects
- Work with robotics, motion control, drives, sensors, and industrial networks
What We're Looking For
✔️ Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering
✔️ 2–5 years of manufacturing controls engineering experience
✔️ Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, PanelView, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, servo drives, and VFDs
✔️ Experience supporting manufacturing equipment—not IT systems
✔️ U.S. Person as defined by ITAR/EAR requirements
✔️ Local to the area or willing to relocate within 45 miles of Shelbyville
Preferred Experience
- Siemens S7 or Beckhoff PLCs
- Yaskawa robots
- AutoCAD Electrical
- Hydraulics, pneumatics, metal forming, or roll forming equipment
- SQL databases and basic industrial networking
Salary : $115,000
