Technician

Job Description:

The Technician II will support manufacturing operations, specifically in extrusion processes, by maintaining equipment, ensuring product quality, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. A high school diploma and trade experience are required.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and elevate productivity and quality concerns to the appropriate resources.
• Take initiative with leadership responsibilities such as scrap reduction, cycle time reduction, setup reduction, and other continuous improvement efforts.
• Order production tooling and supply items as needed.
• Coordinate with outside resources, including manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and equipment support services.
• Build effective working relationships with operators, group leads, and department support.
• Perform all tear-downs and set-ups for extruders and co-extruders.
• Achieve and maintain extruder operations within established cycle times and process parameters.
• Read and interpret tooling prints, part prints, processes, and documentation.
• Complete required documentation accurately.
• Perform precise manufacturing parts inspections.
• Utilize quality equipment effectively (gauges, tooling scope, micrometer, ruler, etc.).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot basic processing errors (e.g., O.D., I.D., ovality, concentricity, FM, etc.).
• Understand material properties and their effects on quality and process.
• Perform basic maintenance on extruders and auxiliary equipment such as dryers, melt filters, blow-off tables, cutters, and pullers.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of extrusion experience, including experience with tooling, troubleshooting equipment, and performing machine/process setups.
• Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
• Proficient with computers.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-year technical degree.
• Experience in the medical device industry.

Compensation:

• Non-Exempt position.
• Overtime (hours over 40 per week) paid at Time and a Half.
