Job Summary:
The Engineering Technologist role is responsible for performing
engineering circuit analysis studies and customer impact studies
under the supervision of senior engineers. This is an
entry-level position
for recent graduates or professionals with a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology. The role requires applying technical knowledge to complete projects safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while gaining experience with industry standards, codes, regulations, and company processes.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Technical Proficiency:
Apply technical knowledge from a Bachelor's degree in ABET-accredited engineering technology programs.
- Assist with technical functions, gain familiarity with standards, codes, regulations, equipment, systems, and business processes.
Support higher-level engineers in handling well-defined portions of routine problems.
Leadership & Guidance:
Follow company policies, standards, and external regulations.
- Perform assigned tasks under the guidance of senior employees.
Work collaboratively, sharing information and seeking assistance as needed.
Planning & Organization:
Maintain records to support assignments and prepare reports for equipment, tests, and projects.
- Assist with annual budgets, capital forecasts, five-year plans, and improvement requisitions.
Participate in planning meetings regarding scheduling, operations, and equipment maintenance.
Problem Solving & Initiative:
Solve routine technical problems with guidance.
Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and improve work processes.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Build consensus, resolve conflicts, and communicate ideas clearly.
- Prepare technical reports and assist with written documentation.
Demonstrate teamwork, openness, and a professional attitude.
Decision Making & Business Awareness:
Develop an understanding of the organization and the specific role of the business unit.
- Learn the basics of utility accounting and financing.
- Demonstrate a customer-focused attitude, both internally and externally.
- Participate in professional organizations to enhance skills and business knowledge.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program is preferred.
- Engineering degrees may also be considered.
Acceptable alternatives:
Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (non-ABET) plus a PE license in any U.S. state.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (non-ABET) plus a Master's or PhD in engineering technology from a university with an ABET-accredited program.
Work Details:
- Position is in-office 5 days per week (Monday-Friday).
