What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Valuation Manager position at Insite US?
Business Valuation Manager
Location: Providence, RI
Work Arrangement: Flexible Hybrid
Employment Type: Full-Time
A well-established CPA and business advisory firm is looking for an experienced Business Valuation Manager to join its growing valuation practice.
This is an opportunity for a valuation professional who wants exposure to a varied mix of assignments rather than being restricted to one type of transaction or industry.
You'll work on valuations involving closely held businesses, gift and estate planning, shareholder transactions, business sales, 409A engagements and purchase price allocations, while collaborating closely with experienced professionals across the firm's tax and advisory practices.
The Role
As Business Valuation Manager, you'll take responsibility for valuation engagements from the initial analysis through to the preparation of final client deliverables.
Assignments will include:
- Prepare valuations of closely held and privately owned businesses.
- Perform common stock and equity valuations.
- Complete valuations supporting gift and estate tax planning and reporting.
- Work on shareholder buyouts and ownership transition matters.
- Support purchase and sale transactions.
- Perform 409A valuations.
- Assist with purchase price allocations.
- Build financial models and perform detailed company and industry analysis.
- Research relevant industries, markets and comparable businesses to support valuation conclusions.
- Prepare clear, well-supported valuation reports and client deliverables.
Tax & Transaction-Related Valuation
One of the more interesting aspects of this position is the opportunity to work closely with the firm's tax professionals.
You'll support valuation matters connected with:
- Estate and gift tax reporting.
- Tax planning engagements.
- Transaction structuring.
- Business ownership transitions.
- Strategic investments.
- Purchase and sale transactions.
- Complex client situations requiring both tax and valuation expertise.
You'll collaborate with professionals across the tax and advisory teams to ensure valuation conclusions reflect the wider financial and tax considerations affecting the client.
Previous public accounting tax experience would therefore be particularly useful in this position.
Additional Valuation Exposure
Depending on your experience, there may also be opportunities to work on financial reporting valuation assignments.
This could include:
- Business combinations and purchase price allocations.
- Valuation of intangible assets.
- Goodwill and long-lived asset impairment analysis.
- Contingent consideration.
- Inventory and deferred revenue assessments.
- Debt and equity component analysis.
Previous financial reporting valuation experience is beneficial but isn't essential for the role.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
- 5 years of business valuation experience within public accounting or a specialist valuation firm.
- CPA qualification required.
- Strong understanding of the income, market and asset-based valuation approaches.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
- Experience preparing professional valuation reports and supporting documentation.
- Strong financial analysis and research skills.
- Ability to communicate valuation conclusions clearly to clients and other professionals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Confidence managing multiple assignments and priorities.
Additional credentials such as ABV, ASA, CVA or CFA would be highly regarded.
Approximately 3–5 years of previous public accounting tax experience would also be advantageous, particularly given the amount of tax-related valuation work within the practice.
Why Consider the Opportunity?
This role provides the chance to build genuine depth within business valuation while maintaining exposure to tax, transactions and wider advisory work.
You'll join a collaborative CPA and advisory environment where valuation professionals work alongside other service lines rather than operating in isolation.
The firm offers:
- Flexible hybrid working.
- Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage.
- Unlimited discretionary paid time off.
- Competitive retirement savings benefits.
- Tuition assistance.
- In-house professional education and development.
- Opportunities to participate in community initiatives.
- Long-term progression within an established valuation and advisory practice.
For an experienced valuation professional looking for more complex assignments, greater client exposure and the opportunity to combine valuation with tax and transaction work, this offers an excellent next step.
