What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Tax Associate - Real Estate position at Insite US?
Senior Tax Associate – Real Estate
Location: Boston, MA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – approximately 3 days per week in office
Experience: 3–5 Years
A leading national CPA and advisory firm is looking for an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join its specialist Real Estate Tax practice in Boston
This is an opportunity to move beyond general tax compliance and build a genuine specialism within real estate. You'll work with sophisticated real estate clients and gain significant exposure to partnership taxation, Form 1065 compliance, tax planning and advisory work.
You'll join an established team where you'll work directly with Managers and Partners while taking greater ownership of engagements and client relationships.
The Role
Your work will be heavily focused on partnership taxation and the complex ownership structures commonly found across the commercial real estate market.
Responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and assist with the review of Form 1065 partnership tax returns.
- Prepare and review supporting K-1 information and tax workpapers.
- Support federal and state partnership tax compliance engagements.
- Assist with tax planning for commercial real estate clients.
- Perform tax research and help resolve technical issues.
- Work alongside Managers and Partners on complex real estate tax assignments.
- Coordinate with engagement teams to ensure deadlines are met throughout the year.
- Communicate directly with clients to obtain information and resolve outstanding matters.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Assist with additional tax projects as client needs arise.
Build a Real Estate Specialism
Rather than working across an unrelated mix of industries, you'll have the opportunity to develop deeper expertise within Commercial Real Estate.
The practice works with organizations operating and investing across the sector, providing exposure to partnership-heavy structures and increasingly complex tax matters as you progress.
You'll develop your understanding of how taxation interacts with real estate ownership and investment while learning directly from experienced professionals who specialize in the industry.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- 3–5 years of progressive tax experience, preferably within public accounting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
- Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation is advantageous.
- CPA, EA or JD preferred.
- Experience preparing partnership tax returns.
- Strong understanding of Form 1065 compliance.
- Commercial Real Estate industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong tax research capabilities.
- Excellent client service and communication skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with both clients and colleagues.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Experience using CCH Axcess, BNA, RIA Checkpoint or comparable professional tax and research software would also be beneficial.
Why Consider the Opportunity?
This is a strong move for a Tax Senior who wants to develop a valuable industry specialism while continuing to progress within a large and established CPA environment.
You'll benefit from:
- A dedicated Commercial Real Estate Tax practice.
- Significant partnership and 1065 exposure.
- Direct access to experienced Managers and Partners.
- Greater client responsibility as you progress.
- Hybrid working flexibility.
- Generous paid time off.
- Comprehensive benefits.
- Professional training and development.
- Support toward professional qualifications.
- Clear progression toward Tax Manager and beyond.
If you're currently a Tax Senior or experienced Tax Associate with partnership experience and want to build your career around Commercial Real Estate, this provides a strong platform to take that next step.
