Location: Boston, MA

Experience: 6 years
A leading national CPA and advisory firm is looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join its specialist Commercial Real Estate practice across the New York Metro area.
This is a strong opportunity for a tax professional who has built their experience around real estate partnerships, private equity structures, joint ventures and complex pass-through entities and wants to continue developing within a dedicated real estate tax practice.
You'll manage sophisticated client engagements, review complex partnership compliance, advise clients on tax matters and work directly with senior leadership across one of the firm's established industry groups.
The Client Base
The practice works with a broad range of organizations investing, developing and operating across the commercial real estate market.
Clients include:
- Commercial real estate owners and developers.
- Real estate investment groups.
- Private equity real estate funds.
- Joint ventures and investment partnerships.
- Property management and operating companies.
- Institutional investors.
- REITs and related real estate structures.
The work is heavily weighted toward partnership taxation, providing significant exposure to complex ownership structures, allocations and multistate investments.
What You'll Be Doing
As Tax Manager, you'll have responsibility for both compliance and advisory engagements while managing the team responsible for day-to-day delivery.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage federal, state and local tax engagements for commercial real estate clients.
- Lead the review of complex Form 1065 partnership returns and K-1s.
- Review related corporate and pass-through entity filings.
- Manage tax compliance across complex, multientity real estate structures.
- Oversee multistate filing requirements associated with real estate investments and partnerships.
- Review work prepared by Seniors and Staff and provide technical guidance throughout engagements.
- Research complex federal and state tax matters using the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations and other authoritative guidance.
- Prepare and review technical tax memoranda.
- Identify tax issues and planning opportunities affecting real estate clients.
- Work directly with clients to understand transactions, investments and changes within their portfolios.
- Coordinate staffing, deadlines and resources across multiple engagements.
- Monitor engagement progress and ensure work is delivered accurately and efficiently.
Advisory & Client Development
This isn't purely a compliance management position.
You'll work closely with Partners and senior leadership to identify opportunities to provide additional value to existing clients and develop new relationships within the real estate market.
You'll have opportunities to:
- Advise clients on tax implications surrounding real estate transactions and ownership structures.
- Identify planning opportunities within partnership and investment structures.
- Build relationships with senior finance and tax professionals across your client portfolio.
- Participate in proposals and new business opportunities.
- Help expand existing client relationships by identifying additional tax and advisory needs.
- Contribute to the continued growth of the Commercial Real Estate practice.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Accounting or Taxation is advantageous.
- CPA, EA or JD required.
- 6 years of relevant public accounting tax experience.
- At least 2 years of experience managing engagements and teams.
- Current experience working with Commercial Real Estate clients.
- Strong knowledge of partnership taxation, Form 1065 and K-1 reporting.
- Experience with real estate private equity and joint venture structures.
- Strong federal and multistate tax compliance knowledge.
- Experience researching and resolving complex tax matters.
- Strong client management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements, deadlines and teams simultaneously.
- Experience with CCH Axcess, ProSystem, CCH Engagement or comparable professional tax platforms.
REIT experience is beneficial but not required.
Why Make the Move?
You'll join a large, established real estate practice where tax professionals can develop genuine industry expertise rather than working across an unrelated mix of clients.
The firm offers:
- Hybrid working flexibility.
- Exposure to sophisticated real estate investors, funds and developers.
- Complex partnership and transaction-driven tax work.
- Direct interaction with experienced Real Estate Tax Partners.
- Generous paid time off.
- Comprehensive benefits.
- Expanded parental leave.
- Extensive technical training and professional development.
- Paid volunteering opportunities.
- Clear progression toward Senior Manager, Director and Partner-level opportunities.
For a Tax Manager already working with commercial real estate, partnerships, private equity or joint ventures, this offers the opportunity to deepen that specialism while taking on increasingly complex clients and greater advisory responsibility.
