A leading full-service CPA and business advisory firm is seeking a Business Valuation Manager to join its Business Valuation Services team in Providence, RI. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced valuation professional to take on a broad range of complex engagements while working closely with tax, accounting, and advisory professionals. The firm provides assurance, tax, business advisory, and valuation services to privately held and publicly traded companies across a variety of industries.
About the Role
The Business Valuation Manager will play a key role in delivering high-quality valuation analyses and advising clients on significant financial and strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare valuations of closely held businesses and business interests, including common stock, gift and estate valuations, shareholder buyouts, and purchase and sale transactions.
- Perform valuations in support of tax compliance, tax planning, estate and gift tax matters, and transaction structuring.
- Collaborate with tax professionals on complex client situations involving valuation and tax considerations.
- Perform 409A valuations and purchase price allocations (PPAs).
- Support financial reporting valuations, including:
- Business combinations and enterprise valuations
- Valuation of intangible assets
- Goodwill and long-lived asset impairment analyses
- Inventory and deferred revenue
- Contingent consideration
- Debt and equity component analyses
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, financial modeling, industry research, and comparable company/transaction analysis.
- Apply appropriate valuation methodologies, including income, market, and asset-based approaches.
- Prepare detailed valuation reports, analyses, and other client deliverables.
- Advise clients on business planning, strategic investments, transactions, and other financial objectives from both valuation and tax perspectives.
- Work collaboratively with tax, accounting, and advisory teams to provide integrated client solutions.
- Maintain strong client relationships and communicate valuation conclusions effectively to both clients and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with additional valuation, advisory, and financial analysis projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 5 years of business valuation experience, preferably within public accounting or a valuation/advisory firm.
- CPA required.
- ABV, ASA, CVA, or CFA certification preferred.
- 3–5 years of public accounting tax experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of business valuation methodologies, including income, market, and asset approaches.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing professional valuation reports and client deliverables.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with tax and accounting technology preferred; familiarity with CCH Axcess, SurePrep, and XCM is a plus.

Pay range and compensation package
- Compensation: $125,000 – $150,000
- Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, education, technical skills, professional credentials, responsibilities, and geographic location.
- The position may also be eligible for additional benefits and bonus opportunities.
