Insight Global's Aerospace client is seeking a highly organized, goal-oriented Tactical Buyer to join our growing organization. The Tactical Buyer is responsible for coordinating and managing the global procurement and supply chain tactical procurement activity within the assigned categories. The activities this role is responsible are: requisition placement and processing, PO processing, PO rescheduling, inventory review and management, processing returns to the supplier, mitigation of increases, expediting parts and eliminating shortages through proactive actions, weekly metric tracking, process improvements etc. This role is responsible for supporting a cross-functional team to achieve annual goals and objectives of the strategic team and understand the terms of the long-term agreements with the supply base. They serve as the primary interface between the production floor and the suppliers.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Lead activities such as coordinate purchase orders, requisitions, request for quotes, and other similar documents related to the purchasing of product for production parts from new/existing suppliers.
- Coordinate internal actions between supplier and client.
- Analyze and manage MRP schedules for parts and ensure timely part PO placements.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics methods with input from the supplier and transportation department to ensure parts are identified correctly and delivered in a cost effective manner.
- Manage part shortages and expedite as necessary from suppliers to ensure on-time delivery for production builds.
- Communicate parts availability to Category Lead and Supply Chain Leadership as appropriate.
- Monitor cost, schedule, technical specification and drawing release status of projects and lead corrective actions as required. Coordinate with supply base new component releases and design changes.
- Support technical reviews with the supply base.
- Disposition and communicate non-conforming part issues internally and externally providing support to the client quality team.
- Coordinate and monitor incoming supplier shipment to ensure compliance to clients requirements.
- Create and maintain weekly purchasing metrics that measure supplier and department performance.
- Participate in continuous improvement and enterprise excellence projects and events.
- Investigates new cost savings ideas with appropriate stakeholders and drive decision making with appropriate business information from a cross-functional team.
- Support data gathering for quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers
- Monitor risk within the supply base
- Develop and utilize project KPI’s to drive results to meet annual goals and objectives.
Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Supply Chain/Operations and 3 years of strategic sourcing experience in the procurement field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in Pull/Kan-ban, and Two-Bin inventory planning systems and Bill of Materials
- Functional knowledge of engineering documentation, manufacturing process control, and technical data.
- MS Office suite, particularly in Excel
- ERP systems use and functionality, Avante or JD Edwards experience preferred
- Engineering systems use and functionality, Jira, Creo, Windchill, Solumina preferred
MES systems use and functionality, Solumina preferred
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- APICS CPIM certification preferred.
- Project management experience preferred
Compensation: $40.00- $46.00/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
