About the Role
We’re hiring a SQL Database Developer to design, build, and maintain operational databases and a scalable enterprise data warehouse that powers analytics, reporting, and BI across a patient‑focused, non‑profit healthcare organization. You’ll collaborate with BI developers, data analysts, IT, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, efficient, and HIPAA‑compliant data solutions that support whole‑person care in the Portland community.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines (structured & unstructured) from databases, APIs, and flat files.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models for analytics/reporting.
- Configure and manage integration tools, databases, warehouses, and analytical systems.
- Build/manage data marts, cubes, and dimensional schemas (star/snowflake); monitor FTP replication of tables.
- Monitor/maintain SQL Server performance (storage, replication, capacity), and resolve integrity/performance issues.
- Deliver data into Power BI and Tableau; partner with BI to publish governed datasets.
- Act as liaison with business units to gather requirements, prioritize work, and define agile delivery plans.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance, secure data access, governance, and application monitoring.
- Provide operational support/incident management for pipelines; communicate status to stakeholders.
- Author and maintain technical documentation (systems, processes, architecture, designs).
Essential Duties (Power BI focus)
- Power BI Service Administration: workspaces, datasets, reports.
- Data Connectivity: SQL, Excel, cloud services.
- Security & Compliance: row‑level security, governance policies.
- Performance Optimization: efficient models and queries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent combination).
- 2 years in data warehouse development/maintenance (required).
- Healthcare experience (required); HIPAA knowledge.
- Advanced SQL programming preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and tools: SSAS, SSIS, SSMS; strong database design/admin.
- Power BI (preferred) and Tableau experience.
- EPIC EHR preferred: Clarity/Caboodle certificates.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, data governance, and reporting techniques.
- Familiarity with APIs, XML, XSLT, basic JavaScript.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration; ability to prioritize in high‑pressure environments.
$98,632.00 - $135,619.00 Per Year Salary
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
