Day-to-Day
A growing veteran-owned general contractor focused on commercial, state, and federal construction is hiring a Project Manager due to recent project wins and planned growth. The goal is to intentionally build out operations with a Project Manager who can take ownership of projects and grow with the company long term.
This is a high-visibility role on a lean team where you will manage projects from preconstruction through closeout, working directly with ownership, estimating, subcontractors, and clients. Projects are typically small to mid-sized ($300K–$2M) with scopes including civil, MEP, renovations, concrete, infrastructure upgrades, and federal work. Larger federal awards are expected, creating future leadership and advancement opportunities.
This role is ideal for someone coming out of a Project Engineer, APM, or Superintendent role who wants more responsibility, direct exposure to decision-makers, and the chance to help build and scale a growing construction operation. The plan will be to heavily develop, invest in, and promote this candidate from within.
Travel is currently primarily local, with select out-of-state assignments anticipated as additional federal projects are awarded.
Responsibilities
• Manage the full project lifecycle from preconstruction planning through closeout
• Oversee on-site operations, subcontractor performance, and jobsite safety
• Develop and manage schedules, budgets, billing, and cost controls
• Ensure contract compliance, quality standards, and regulatory requirements (including prevailing wage when applicable)
• Review submittals, RFIs, and change orders
• Lead communication with owners, architects, engineers, and inspectors
• Support procurement and value engineering efforts
• Provide strong field leadership with a focus on execution and accountability
• Support local and occasional out-of-state projects
Must-Haves
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
• 4–8 years of experience in Project Engineer, APM, Superintendent, or PM roles
• Federal construction projects in the $300k - $2M range
• Well-rounded exposure to civil, MEP, or multiple scopes of work
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts
• Experience managing subcontractors, schedules, and budgets
• Comfortable working in the field and leading jobsite execution
• Career-driven mindset with interest in long-term growth
Plusses
• Federal government, state, or municipal project experience
• Background in civil, infrastructure, or renovation-heavy construction
• Military or veteran-affiliated background
• Willingness to travel for future project awards
