Project Engineer – VA Hospital Renovation (Federal Healthcare)
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to support the renovation of a Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in construction engineering and a passion for healthcare infrastructure. The Project Engineer will work closely with project managers, contractors, and federal stakeholders to ensure successful execution of this mission-critical facility upgrade.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the coordination and execution of renovation activities across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural scopes
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and submittals for compliance with VA and federal standards
- Support RFIs, change orders, and field inspections to ensure quality and schedule alignment
- Monitor contractor performance and maintain daily reports and project documentation
- Collaborate with design teams, federal representatives, and hospital staff to minimize operational disruptions
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, infection control procedures, and healthcare construction best practices
- Participate in commissioning, punch list resolution, and project closeout activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
- Approximately 3 years of experience in construction or engineering, preferably in healthcare or federal projects
- Familiarity with VA construction standards and federal compliance requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and construction management software
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on-site and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
