Pipefitter

Job Summary

Pipe fabrication (carbon, stainless, and other materials) in various sizes including cutting with saws or beveling machines. Fit and weld fabricated pipe with multiple processes (GTAW, SMAW, and FCAW) in accordance with shop drawings or ISO drawings. Perform other work in tank shop or fit and weld tanks when necessary. Reports to PIPE SHOP SUPERVISOR.

Educational Qualifications

High school diploma plus a certificate with two or more years of experience or equivalent.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, talking and hearing. Use of hands to handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms. May climb or balance. Visual and mental acuity required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. minimum.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed and required.

• Drill and punch holes in metal, screws, and bolts.
• Fasten seams or joints together with welds or bolts to assemble components into products or to repair.
• Maintain equipment, making repairs or modifications when necessary.
• Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, or smooth surfaces, seams, or joints of assembled parts, using hand tools or portable power tools.
• Must be able to fit two-hole flanges.
• Must be able to make pipe cut lengths.
• Understand and adhere to company safety and housekeeping policies.
• Performs other related duties as requested or assigned by any person authorized to give instructions or assignments.

Other Qualifications or Requirements:

• Ability to read blueprints and ISO drawings.
• Ability to anticipate and resolve potential problems.
• Observance of and adherence to all company policies and procedures is expected at all times.

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, heat, sparks, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the environment is loud. Required Personal Protection equipment are earplugs, safety glasses/goggles, welding shield, non-flammable clothing (or equivalent protection), and steel-toed shoes.

Technical Competencies

Possess mathematical skills, analytical skills, and the ability to anticipate and resolve potential problems.

Special Knowledge or Skills

Must hold 6G certification.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Does not directly supervise any person, but ownership of work performed and responsibility for own actions are expected. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable federal and state laws.
