Location: College Park, MD (Hybrid – Office visits 1-2 times per quarter)
Compensation: $35–$50/hr (pay rate determined by experience)
Contract: 6 month contract-to-hire
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Payroll Manager to lead and optimize payroll operations for a growing organization. This role requires deep expertise in Ceridian Dayforce, multi-state and international payroll, and advanced Excel skills. The position will begin as an individual contributor with future team leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing across multiple U.S. states and international locations (Canada and UK preferred)
- Serve as the subject matter expert in Ceridian Dayforce, particularly the payroll module
- Customize and configure payroll workflows and account mappings
- Handle salary adjustments, allocations, and reporting structures
- Oversee payroll reconciliation and payroll tax compliance
- Utilize advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, formulas) for auditing and reporting
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll execution
- Prepare for future team leadership (3–4 direct reports anticipated within 6 months)
Qualifications
- 7–9 years of payroll experience, including multi-state and international scope
- Hands-on expertise with Ceridian Dayforce (payroll module)
- Proven ability to customize payroll systems and workflows
- Strong understanding of payroll tax reconciliation and compliance
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Experience with auditing and payroll reporting
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
