Network Operations Specialist

Pay Rate: $25-$30/hr

Schedule: 10-hour shifts (Sunday-Wednesday 11pm-9am)

Duration: 4-month contract (potential to extend and convert)

GENERAL PURPOSE:

• Responsible for the administration and oversight of the 24/7 batch processing schedule.
• Participate in monitoring, troubleshooting, resolving, and/or escalating issues within the Ross Stores computing environment, including networks, servers, and other critical data center components.
• Leverage NOC tools to proactively monitor systems and applications for potential issues or failures and resolve or escalate according to documented processes before customer impact occurs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain production job schedules in the BMC Control-M job scheduling system, ensuring batch processing meets predefined SLAs.
• Identify job failures and troubleshoot or escalate using documented procedures.
• Execute on-demand procedures such as file transfers, tape handling system administration, and change system requests.
• Monitor systems, networks, and applications using Ross standard tools; troubleshoot, resolve, or escalate issues as needed.
• Monitor vendor-managed systems deployed in the Ross environment and coordinate with external vendors and internal teams for resolution.
• Document all incidents in the ServiceNow trouble ticketing system. Escalate critical issues within SLAs and follow up proactively.
• Collaborate with Systems Administration and Engineering teams to ensure monitoring tools function correctly and provide feedback for optimization.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 1–3 years of experience in a data center operations or NOC environment.
• Must be able to work in an office environment, primarily using a computer.
• Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, telephone use, attending in-person meetings, typing, and handling physical files or documents.
• Consistent timeliness and regular attendance are essential.
• Must have the ability to see information in print and electronic formats.
