Position: Instrument Technician 2
Location: Pontiac, MI – Onsite, Monday–Friday, 2nd Shift (2:00pm–10:30pm), No remote

Shift: 2nd Shift, 8.5-hour days (2:00pm–10:30pm)
Start Date: January 20th, 2026 (after holidays)
Interview Process: 1 round, video interview via MS Teams, up to 1 hour (likely shorter)
Must Haves:
- High School Diploma required; technical degree (e.g., engineering) preferred
- 2–4 years of experience in maintenance/testing environments (handling calibrated equipment, delicate components)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills
- Basic understanding of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware
- Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Experience with troubleshooting and diagnostics in a lab/test environment
- Ability to perform scheduled preventive maintenance, calibration, and repair tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EPA 1065, 1066, Euro certification, or gas analysis
- Emissions-focused background (not required, but highly valued)
- Experience with AVL emission equipment, FTIR analyzers, vehicle gas emissions testing
- Test operator or test technician background
- Familiarity with automotive industry and engine/transmission development environments
- Lab exposure preferred
Job Description:
Instrument Technician will work on internal combustion engine emissions testing equipment, focusing on calibration and maintenance. Responsibilities include scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of emission analyzers and related equipment. The technician will work within a climate-controlled test lab, primarily with a small emissions team (7–8 people), and must complete safety training. The role offers exposure to new technologies and hands-on experience in the automotive industry.
Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks (checking, cleaning, repairing equipment)
- Examine work orders and communicate with equipment operators to detect problems
- Set up and test industrial equipment to ensure proper function
- Operate equipment to demonstrate use and analyze malfunctions
- Repair and adjust equipment, machines, and defective components
- Replace worn parts (e.g., gaskets, seals) in watertight electrical equipment
- Calibrate testing instruments and installed/repaired equipment to specifications
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in test cells and emission analyzers
- Support maintenance team for the test lab, ensuring all test systems are operational

Compensation:

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
