Insight Global is seeking a Firmware Engineer to support Enel's embedded systems and energy management technology initiatives. This engineer will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and troubleshooting firmware running on proprietary hardware devices used for remote energy monitoring, equipment control, and communication with centralized dispatch platforms.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working with embedded Linux systems, supporting legacy products in the field, and solving complex firmware and hardware challenges that directly impact the reliability of critical energy infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance firmware for embedded devices supporting energy monitoring and control systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve firmware and hardware issues across field-deployed products.
- Support embedded Linux environments and manage Yocto-based build systems.
- Collaborate with hardware, electrical, and field engineering teams to improve product performance and reliability.
- Maintain and modernize legacy firmware while ensuring long-term product sustainability.
- Support communication interfaces and protocols used in remote telemetry and industrial applications.
- Participate in testing, debugging, and validation of firmware releases.
- Contribute to product improvements, reliability initiatives, and operational support efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of embedded firmware development experience.
- Strong programming experience with C/C , Python, and Linux.
- Experience working with Embedded Linux and Yocto build environments.
- Proven experience supporting and enhancing firmware for embedded devices.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across firmware and hardware systems.
- Familiarity with microcontrollers and communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, and RS-232/485.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
