Engineering Field Technician

The purpose of the Field Tech is to apply technical skills to design safe, cost effective and reliable distribution power facilities for residential, commercial and industrial projects using MicroStation. You will be preparing project and job packages that include material lists, requisitions, labor estimates, site drawings and construction drawings for installations of electrical and power distribution projects in a cost-effective manner.

Must Haves

• High school diploma/GED is required. Associates degree in engineering, engineering technology, design technology, or a related field (preferred).
• Proficient in basic principles and practices of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, general science and scales of weight and measurements as applied to engineer’s computations and construction (using currency and other forms of measurement).

Day to Day

• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, change orders, improvement plans, construction specifications, procedure manuals, operational procedures, etc.
• Perform drafting work and assist in the preparation of designs, plans and reports.
• Make accurate engineering calculations.
• Collect and analyze field data and prepare accurate and detailed reports and records.
• Use various design software and work management tools.
• Evaluate distribution equipment such as transformers and fusing.
