ABOUT THE JOB:
Insight Global is seeking a Director of Engineering to support one of our clients, a global leader in the semiconductor industry. As the Director of Field Engineering, you will serve as the technical bridge between our product, customers, and go-to-market (GTM) teams. You will combine deep technical expertise with strategic business acumen to help shape how our company's technology is adopted, deployed, and scaled in the field.
This role is both strategic and hands-on: you will guide product direction through customer insights, act as a trusted technical advisor to our clients, and champion our vision within the broader industry.
Key responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and industry trends, providing thought leadership and technical direction across customer and internal engagements.
- Technical Evangelism: Represent the company at conferences, industry events, and customer meetings
- Solution Design: Partner with customers and prospects to understand their requirements, identify opportunities, and design solutions that drive measurable impact.
- Product Strategy: Pair field feedback with your experience and intuition to inform product direction and business strategy.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to ensure technical alignment and maximize customer outcomes for the effort invested.
- Engineering Management: Manage a team of field engineers across multiple geographies. Coach, advise, and support team members to help them achieve their full potential.
Required Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience in software engineering, solutions architecture, or field technology leadership roles.
- Proven success bridging technical and commercial domains—ideally in SaaS, embedded systems, or developer-focused products.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems, Linux, bare-metal, and device-level engineering.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both engineers and executives.
- Demonstrated ability to influence product direction through customer insights and market feedback.
- Experience representing organizations externally at events or conferences is a plus.
Salary : $200,000 - $240,000
