About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support the construction and restoration activities for the Bayswater Point State Park Shoreline Restoration Project in Far Rockaway, Queens.
Role & Responsibilities
- Serve as the Construction Inspector and coordinate the work of specialty inspectors, including environmental, landscaping, arborist, and materials inspectors.
- Inspect and monitor shoreline restoration, site/civil work, landscaping, marsh restoration, boardwalk, and ADA-accessible pier construction activities.
- Ensure contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, permits, environmental requirements, and quality standards.
- Oversee and verify daily SWPPP inspections, erosion and sediment control measures, and environmental compliance activities.
- Review and approve materials prior to installation and coordinate testing and quality assurance activities.
- Attend project meetings, document field observations, prepare daily reports, meeting minutes, and monthly progress updates.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, agencies, and stakeholders to resolve field issues and maintain project progress.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum 5-7 years of construction inspection experience with site/civil infrastructure projects.
- Experience leading inspection teams and coordinating multiple disciplines.
- Strong experience with shoreline restoration, marine construction, landscaping, habitat restoration, boardwalks, and pier construction.
- Knowledge of SWPPP requirements, erosion and sediment control, and environmental compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, permits, and contract documents.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- OSHA 30, NICET or related certifications preferred.
