What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Manager position at Indoff?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Indoff is a subsidiary of a publicly owned, nationwide distributor. The Accounting Manager over our finance department is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of day-to-day accounting transactions. This position manages staff whose responsibilities include cash applications, sales taxes, banking transactions, overhead payables, sales commissions, invoice portals, journal entries, account reconciliations and month-end closing.
We are in the Westport area of St. Louis County, and the position is an in-office role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely completion of all cash receipts, portal invoices, sales tax filings, expense reports, journal entries, account reconciliations and other finance department tasks
- Review and approve monthly commission adjustments
- Review and approve various accounting transactions that exceed certain limits
- Review all Sales & Use Tax and Business Licenses notices and ensure returns are filed timely
- Serve as back up to all roles in the department
- Assist in the development of finance procedures and policies and keep manuals up to date
- Manage adherence to accounting controls
- Assist with internal audits and periodic sales tax audits
- Utilize Crystal Reports for financial analysis and reporting
- Conducts bi-annual performance reviews and manages the ADP time system
- Special accounting projects as assigned by Controller, CFO or President
Qualifications:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- 5-10 years' experience in management of an accounting department
- Public accounting or public company SOX experience is a plus
- Experience using large ERP systems such as JD Edwards- Oracle, PeopleSoft or SAP
