A growing, family-owned supplier of aggregate materials serving the construction industry is seeking a Controller to lead financial activities, oversee day-to-day accounting and administrative functions, and serve as a trusted partner to ownership. This is an ideal opportunity for a practical, detail-oriented leader who is comfortable working in a small office environment, balancing strategic financial oversight with occasional involvement in general office and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the monthly close process for multiple entities
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and reconciliations for multiple companies
- Manage AP and AR
- Process weekly payroll
- Provide operational financial information on inventory and cost of goods sold
- Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures
- Coordinate with external CPAs, unions, and government entities for tax and compliance filings
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of accounting or finance experience
- Previous experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Controller
- Experience with multi-entity or owner-operated businesses
- Strong knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax, and banking functions
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, aggregates, or other trade-related industries
