The duties and responsibilities should be as follows:
- Manage the end-to-end purchasing process for a variety of raw materials, components, and services, ensuring materials arrive on schedule to meet production timelines
- Negotiate pricing and establish relationships with suppliers to secure the best possible purchase price, quality, and delivery
- Analyze daily material requirements from production schedules and requisitions, converting them into purchase orders
- Strategically locate and investigate alternative suppliers for bid comparison and delivery requirements
- Coordinate the handling of all RMAs and assist in resolving shipping and invoice issues
- Participate in weekly production meetings to address any special purchasing or expediting needs
The background of the successful candidate must include the following:
- 5 years of experience in a purchasing role within a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Proven ability to negotiate pricing and gather bids for both routine and high-value purchases
- Experience with procuring various materials, including steel (sheet, tubing, structural), pumps, actuators, and electrical components
- A solid understanding of inventory control and experience using ERP or custom purchasing software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A solid work history
- Being a US citizen or green card holder
- Having a residence within a 45-minute drive
