- BSME or 5 years of direct custom machine design-build experience is a requirement to be considered
- If you thrive on architecting ground-up, one-of-a-kind automated systems and high-speed robotic work cells from a blank sheet of paper, we have a lead seat for you on our elite innovation team
- Pay is up to $120,000 annually
- You are one of five lead engineers in a firm transitioning into a high-growth OEM, designing systems that ship to global giants in Europe and the US
- Transitioning to a 100% SolidWorks environment (from AutoCAD)
- Must be a United States citizen or Green Card holder
- No remote as this is an onsite position
- Full-time, permanent, W-2 employee

The duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate include the following:
- Lead the mechanical design integrity, approach, and profitability for complex machine design-build projects
- Assist the Project Manager in design concept reviews to satisfy customer machine specifications with innovative and cost-effective solutions
- Structure and breakdown the design effort for large projects into manageable tasks, overseeing both in-house designers and external design houses
- Apply sound design practices for hydraulic and pneumatic components to meet the specific requirements of each unique machine
- Identify potential safety concerns, such as pinch points or component accessibility issues, during the early design phase
- Manage technical communications with global customers to ensure cycle times and machine specs meet rigorous international standards
- Facilitate corrective actions and maintain engineering design release schedules to keep projects within budget and on time
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or 5 years of direct custom machine design-build and implementation experience
- 3 ore more years of experience specifically in custom equipment design (not consumer product development or scanning equipment)
- Current, direct proficiency in SolidWorks for machine design
- Experience with welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, Laser) and high-speed assembly procedures
- A proven ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and a small team of designers or detailers
- An understanding of machine tool, material science, and power transmission concepts
- A solid work history showing long-term commitment to past employers
- US citizenship or Green Card status with a residence within a 45-minute drive of Brown Deer
