Position Summary
The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that supports the growth of the whole child. This role includes leading classroom instruction, guiding assistant teachers, implementing curriculum, and fostering positive communication with families.
The ideal candidate is organized, enthusiastic, patient, and passionate about helping children learn through hands-on experiences, creativity, and Christ-centered values.
What You’ll Do:
Classroom Leadership & Instruction
- Create and implement engaging lesson plans and classroom activities aligned with early learning standards and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Foster a classroom culture where children feel safe, loved, encouraged, and excited to learn.
- Lead and support assistant teachers through modeling, coaching, and teamwork.
- Plan meaningful individual and group activities that support social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development.
Family Communication
- Build positive partnerships with families through daily communication, progress updates, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Address parent questions and concerns professionally and compassionately.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Ensure compliance with all center policies, licensing regulations, and health standards.
- Supervise classroom staff and volunteers to ensure proper safety and hygiene practices are followed.
- Complete CACFP meal count documentation and maintain accurate classroom records.
Professional Growth
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities and training.
- Stay current on best practices in early childhood education.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in early childhood education
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- Minimum of 12 credit hours in Early Childhood Education
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Basic computer and technology skills
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
- Must pass background screening and health requirements
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Ability to bend, kneel, squat, walk frequently, and actively engage with children throughout the day
- Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors while maintaining awareness and safety
