Our client, a stable and growing manufacturer in the Belding, Michigan area, is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to take ownership of payroll operations in a fast-paced production environment. This is a highly visible role supporting both hourly and salaried payroll operations while partnering closely with HR and leadership teams to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Responsibilities
- Own and process full-cycle payroll operations.
- Manage payroll for both hourly and salaried employee groups.
- Ensure accurate payroll calculations including overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, garnishments, deductions, and benefit withholdings.
- Review payroll data for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Partner with HR and leadership teams regarding employee payroll changes, status updates, and reporting needs.
- Assist with payroll audits, reporting, reconciliations, and year-end processing activities.
- Respond to employee payroll-related questions with professionalism and urgency.
- Help improve payroll processes, workflows, and system efficiencies.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee information.
- Support timekeeping and attendance tracking processes tied to payroll operations.
Qualifications
- 3 years of payroll experience required.
- Manufacturing payroll experience required
- Experience in processing payroll for larger employee populations.
- Strong understanding of hourly payroll, salaried payroll, overtime calculations, and payroll compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Paycor or Paylocity experience preferred.
- Familiarity with payroll audits, reporting, and compliance documentation.
Schedule & Reporting Structure
- Standard Monday-Friday schedule, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
- Reports directly to payroll/HR leadership.
- On-site role based in the Belding, Michigan area.
