Controls Engineer (SCADA)
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to lead automation and control system development at a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Buffalo, NY. This role will play a key part in optimizing plant performance through advanced controls, system integration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a hands-on, high-impact position supporting a modern extrusion and polymer manufacturing operation focused on innovation, automation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and implement PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for automated manufacturing processes
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across controls, SCADA, IIoT, MES, and industrial networks
- Perform preventive maintenance, system updates, and continuous optimization of control systems
- Lead commissioning, startup, and validation of automation systems
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, IT, production, and quality teams to improve system reliability and efficiency
- Plan and execute system upgrades, pilots, and new technology implementations
- Train operations and maintenance teams on system functionality and safe controls practices
- Support data acquisition, performance monitoring, and OEE improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
- 10 years of experience in industrial automation and controls engineering
- Strong experience with PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell)
- Experience with SCADA/HMI systems (Ignition experience preferred)
- Working knowledge of MES, IIoT, industrial networking, and machine integration
- Proven troubleshooting and analytical skills in a manufacturing environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts across teams
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environment

Salary : $90,000 - $125,000
