Role Summary
The Telecom Operations Support Analyst is responsible for managing and optimizing telecom expense management (TEM) operations across voice, data, and wireless services. This role supports complex billing environments, multi-million-dollar budgets, vendor performance management, and internal customer engagement while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and cost efficiency across telecom operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage telecom expense and contract management practices for voice, data, and cellular services across multiple vendors.
- Oversee the full telecom lifecycle, including vendor management, service inventory, billing, and contract compliance.
- Manage complex billing processes and support multi-million-dollar budget oversight.
- Analyze telecom invoices to identify billing errors, disputes, adjustments, approvals, and payment discrepancies.
- Perform monthly and quarterly invoice reviews to ensure adherence to contracts and statements of work.
- Support global billing processes across multiple telecom carriers and vendors.
- Measure, monitor, and analyze carrier performance against established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Manage and monitor Telecom Expense Management (TEM) vendor performance against defined SLAs.
- Maintain accurate records of mobility, data, and voice services, including inventory, accounts, and invoices.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses to streamline operations and reduce overall telecom operational costs.
- Identify cost-savings opportunities through historical spend analysis and utilization reporting.
- Track and validate billing data accuracy and integrity to eliminate recurring billing issues.
- Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve service, operational, and billing inquiries.
- Collaborate with internal teams, departments, and business units to ensure timely communication on issues, statuses, and deadlines.
- Operate effectively in a high-volume transaction environment requiring strong attention to detail and analytical rigor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in telecom operations or telecom financial management
- OR
- Advanced degree with 5–6 years of experience in the telecom industry and/or Telecom Expense Management (TEM).
- Proven experience managing telecom billing, expense management, and vendor contracts.
- Strong background in financial analysis and Accounts Payable processes.
- Experience managing large budgets and complex billing environments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Tableau, including large data file manipulation, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting global telecom environments with multiple carriers and vendors.
- Hands-on experience working with Telecom Expense Management (TEM) platforms or service providers.
- Demonstrated success identifying and delivering telecom cost savings initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience working in highly regulated or large enterprise environments.
