Position Summary
This role provides critical contractor support to execute and monitor Temporary Importation under Bond (TIB) processes for goods imported for repair and re-export under HTSUS 9813.00.50. The position ensures full compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, accurate documentation, and timely re-exportation to avoid fines or penalties.
Scope of Work
The contractor will be responsible for the following activities:
- Execute all required process steps for TIB repair imports with accuracy and within specified timelines.
- Support the Customs Center of Excellence (COE) team with bond obligation management, including data gathering and document preparation.
- Ensure accurate classification and documentation for all imports in coordination with the COE team.
- Establish and manage Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes for repairs, including cross-border shipments with Mexico and Canada.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to proactively forecast incoming repair items.
- Ensure all entries include the correct “Imported for Repair and Reexport” notation.
- Monitor and track TIB timelines to ensure timely re-export or destruction, mitigating risk of non-compliance.
- Maintain comprehensive, audit-ready records of all TIB transactions.
- Advise internal stakeholders (e.g., Project Managers, Operations) on TIB-related requirements and procedures.
- Recommend process improvements to increase compliance, efficiency, and documentation accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal, safety, and internal control standards.
Key Deliverables
- Timely and accurate processing of all TIB entries.
- Organized and complete records of all TIB transactions.
- Monthly reports detailing TIB activity, key compliance metrics, and export deadlines.
- Clear and actionable documentation of any proposed process improvements.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in import/export compliance, customs operations, or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations related to TIB, particularly under HTSUS 9813.00.50.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data tracking and reporting.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
- Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
Preferred Skills
- Background in the energy, oil & gas, or industrial sectors.
- Experience working with bonded imports and customs brokerage operations.
- Knowledge of cross-border trade practices with Canada and Mexico.
Engagement Terms
The contractor will report to the Finance department and collaborate with internal stakeholders across Supply Chain, Customs, and Operations. This is a hybrid role aligned with company operational hours and site access policies.
