We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to serve as the department’s lead electrical engineering resource. What You’ll Do:Electrical Systems Leadership
- Act as the goto expert for all electrical systems in our elevator products, providing guidance across departments.
- Respond to and resolve electrical issues from the field, including remote troubleshooting and occasional site visits.
- Lead product onboarding projects for elevator machines in the North American market, including application rules, test plans, and design review.
- Oversee certification of electrical components in compliance with ASME A17.5 standards.
- Support and improve controllers and drives for both traction and hydraulic elevator systems.
- Perform electrical power and energy calculations, and design or oversee control software development.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and safety practices (e.g., NEC, UL, ASME A17.1/A17.5).
- Work crossfunctionally with mechanical engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.
- Participate in field quality investigations, supporting root cause analysis for electrical issues.
- Review PCB designs, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts for functionality, compliance, and safety.
- Conduct field and lab testing using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and clamp meters.
- Author technical documentation including test plans, field reports, root cause analysis summaries, and compliance reports.
- Contribute to product lifecycle validation, reliability testing, and design improvements.
- Identify trends from field and test data to support root cause analysis and performance optimization.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering experience, with focus on motor control systems or electromechanical products.
- Expertise with motor controllers and variable frequency drive (VFD) technology.
- Strong experience in motordriven systems; elevator industry experience strongly preferred.
- Electrical power and drive systems, motor control principles, and load behavior.
- PCB specification, testing, and design review.
- Control systems development and software oversight.
- Electrical codes, standards, and compliance (ASME, NEC, UL).
- Electrical CAD and documentation tools (AutoCAD Electrical or similar).
- Field testing and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative tools (Teams, SharePoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Project management, task prioritization, and document control experience.
- Familiarity with quality and safety documentation standards.
- Experience with FMEAs, reliability testing, or product lifecycle validation.
- Ability to analyze test and field data to identify performance trends.
- Occasional travel (45 times per year) for site visits, customer support, conferences, or training.
