Senior Automation Technician Overview
We are seeking a Senior Automation Technician to support advanced troubleshooting, system optimization, and design of complex automation systems within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for improving system performance, reliability, and efficiency through hands-on technical expertise and leadership of automation initiatives.
This position partners with engineering teams to integrate and enhance automation systems, leads projects from concept through implementation, and applies new technologies to drive operational improvements.
Senior Automation Technician Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting on complex automation systems to resolve equipment and system issues
- Design, integrate, and optimize automation systems including PLCs, robotics, vision systems, and controls
- Lead automation projects and system installations, ensuring adherence to technical specifications
- Modify, reverse engineer, and improve existing automation systems to enhance functionality and performance
- Conduct root cause analysis and failure investigations on equipment and automation systems
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system performance and maintenance records
- Collaborate with engineering and external vendors on system integration and upgrades
- Support automation system improvements across electrical, controls, robotic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
- Ensure automation systems meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with third-party integrators on automation projects and technical deliverables
- Identify and implement system improvements to increase uptime and reduce inefficiencies
Senior Automation Technician Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Robotics, Mechatronics, Controls, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in automation, controls, or related technical field
- Experience with PLC programming, robotics, vision systems, and system integration
- Experience troubleshooting complex automation systems in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control systems
- Experience leading automation projects, installations, and system modifications
- Proficiency with technical tools, automation software, and system documentation
- Advanced technical training or certifications in automation or controls (Preferred)
- Experience with advanced robotics and vision systems (Preferred)
- Experience supporting large-scale manufacturing or assembly operations (Preferred)
Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
