Position Summary
The Construction Inspector will provide inspection, documentation, and quality assurance support for a large-scale industrial project involving mechanical and process equipment fabrication, installation, and commissioning. This role will verify conformance with specifications, drawings, and codes, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective equipment delivery and construction execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections at fabrication shops and construction sites for mechanical, electrical, and civil components.
- Review and verify weld procedures (WPS/PQRs), inspection test plans (ITPs), and quality documentation packages.
- Inspect pressure vessels, piping, tanks, boilers, cooling systems, and rotating equipment for compliance with ASME, API, and project specifications.
- Conduct field walkdowns, punch list verification, and witness testing and hydrostatic inspections as required.
- Document inspection results, track nonconformance reports (NCRs), and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Coordinate with engineers, vendors, and project management to resolve technical and quality-related issues.
- Utilize Procore, CX Alloy, or similar project management platforms for reporting, documentation, and data tracking.
- Uphold all site safety protocols, participate in job safety analyses (JSAs), and contribute to a strong safety culture.
Qualifications
- 10 years of industrial inspection experience in chemical, petrochemical, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII, API 650, and other applicable codes and standards.
- Experience inspecting boilers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, cooling towers, pumps, and tanks.
- Familiarity with welding procedures, materials testing, and quality control documentation.
- Proficiency with inspection management systems and digital reporting tools (Procore, CX Alloy, etc.).
- Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to travel to vendor fabrication sites and be based onsite during installation and commissioning phases.
- TWIC card preferred.
