What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Engineer (Civil or Mechanical) position at Hunt Guillot & Associates (HGA)?
HGA is seeking an experienced Facility Engineer (Civil or Mechanical) to support large?scale energy infrastructure construction projects across North Carolina. This role serves as an on?site extension of the engineering team, ensuring construction activities are executed in alignment with approved engineering designs, safety standards, and quality requirements.
The Facility Engineer will work closely with construction crews, inspection teams, and engineering stakeholders to support day?to?day field execution, testing, and documentation activities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide on?site engineering support during construction activities for energy and industrial facilities
- Serve as a technical liaison between engineering, construction, and inspection teams
- Support and oversee field activities including:
- Pressure and integrity testing
- Mechanical punch list development and close?out
- Inspection and quality documentation
- Field audits and compliance checks
- Review construction drawings and specifications to ensure field execution aligns with design intent
- Identify, document, and help resolve field engineering issues and deviations
- Support project reporting, documentation, and progress tracking
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and schedule adherence in a construction environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of engineering experience, including time spent in construction or field?based roles
- Experience supporting industrial, energy, pipeline, or similar infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of construction practices, testing procedures, and field documentation
- Ability to work extended hours and travel to multiple project sites as needed
- Strong communication and coordination skills with field and engineering teams
- Experience supporting compressor stations, pipeline facilities, or heavy industrial construction
- Familiarity with construction testing plans, inspections, and punch list processes
