Responsibilities
- Supervise daily shop activities, ensuring timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks on heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and automotive vehicles.
- Assign work orders to technicians based on skill levels and workload, monitoring progress to meet operational deadlines.
- Inspect completed work for quality assurance, verifying repairs adhere to safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, parts used, and labor hours for each job.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment through regular training and inspections.
- Coordinate with customers to communicate repair status, explain technical issues clearly, and address any concerns professionally.
- Oversee inventory management for tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring availability for ongoing operations.
- Provide mentorship and training opportunities for technicians to enhance their skills in areas such as hydraulics, electrical systems, diagnostics, welding, and fabrication.
- Implement continuous process improvements to optimize workflow efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Uphold company policies regarding quality control, safety procedures, and environmental standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dealership or heavy equipment service environments with a strong background in mechanical repairs.
- Extensive knowledge of fabrication techniques, hydraulics, transmissions, air brake systems, suspension components, HVAC systems, diesel engines, shocks & struts, tire service, welding, and electrical diagnostics.
- Hands-on experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, or similar equipment.
- Familiarity with schematics interpretation for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and diagnostic software.
- Excellent communication skills for customer interactions and team coordination.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of automotive repair including brake repair, wheel alignment, vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Prior experience working with Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery brands is advantageous.
- Formal training or certifications in mechanical repair or related fields are preferred. This role is integral to maintaining operational excellence within our workshop.
