Job Title: Principal Quality Control Engineer (Electrical / I&C Inspector)
Duration: 1 year with potential for extension(s)
Location: 100% Onsite in Aiken, SC
Short Summary about Job:
HukariAscendent is seeking a Principal Quality Control Engineer (working title: Electrical / I&C Inspector) to supervise and direct quality control engineers performing inspections and surveillance in support of construction and maintenance activities. This role provides quality control support to construction management, resolves complex quality issues, ensures compliance with site specifications and standards, and includes additional duties specific to electrical and instrumentation & controls (I&C) quality control inspections.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and at least 8–10 years of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas (an Associate’s degree with 10–12 years, or a high school diploma with 12–16 years of experience, will be considered equivalent)
- Well-developed organizational and supervisory skills, along with strong communication abilities
- Certification in area(s) of responsibility, with ongoing programmatic training per the project quality program
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance (not required at time of hire; candidate will be notified when to apply based on specific work assignments after award)
- Prior work experience under an ASME NQA-1 quality program (required)
- Prior DOE work experience (required)
- Ability to foster a work environment that promotes safety, quality, openness, trust, communication, teamwork, and customer satisfaction (required)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred
- Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control within the last 16 months
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities
- Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and accurately status the results
- Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs
- Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments
- Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information, and each individual’s commitment to site policies
- Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities
- Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities
- Review and approve subcontractors’ quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures
- Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards
- Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing, and surveillance activities are being performed
- Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks
- Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel
Additional Duties (Electrical / I&C Inspector):
- Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to electrical and I&C, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards
- Perform field-related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans
- Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Nonconformance reports as required
- Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment
