Nuclear Facility Safety Engineer (Senior/Fellow Level)
Duration: 12 months
Location: Y-12 National Security Complex, Oak Ridge, TN
Short Summary about Job:
Provide nuclear facility safety technical support for the management of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear facilities at the Y-12 National Security Complex, in accordance with 10 CFR 830 Subpart B and applicable DOE standards. Serve as a Lead Facility Safety Engineer supporting the 9212 or 9215 Complexes, and help train and mentor incoming Facility Safety Engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree plus 15 or more years of direct experience, including 10 or more years of DOE-specific Nuclear/Safety Analysis Engineering experience (or a Master's degree with equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience in hazard identification, hazard screening, and hazard evaluation processes
- Experience with accident and consequence analysis, and selection of engineered and/or administrative controls credited for accident prevention or mitigation
- Experience documenting safety analysis reports, documented safety analyses, and technical safety requirements
- Working knowledge of 10 CFR 830 Subpart B, DOE-STD-3009-94, and DOE-STD-1189-2008
- Familiarity with technical issues raised by the U.S. Defense Nuclear Facility Safety Board (DNFSB) pertaining to DOE nuclear facilities
- Demonstrated experience and background sufficient to serve as a Lead Facility Safety Engineer for a DOE nuclear facility
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience developing safety basis documentation at the Y-12 National Security Complex
- Experience mentoring and training junior Facility Safety Engineers
Salary : $252,000 - $300,000
