SUMMARY:
The Senior Buyer/Planner is responsible for providing strategic coordination across supply chain services, including procurement, capacity planning, and service delivery. This role ensures the effective execution of high-value procurement activities, supports operational and market demand planning, and delivers best-practice supply chain strategies aligned with short- and long-term business objectives. A key focus is building strong relationships with Operations, Sales, and corporate functions to enable a proactive, customer-focused supply chain that supports the company's growth agenda.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have 5 years of recent experience as a Buyer/Planner in the manufacturing industry, with at least 1-2 years in a Senior Buyer/Planner role.
- Experience with a paper converting, paper packaging, or paperboard/cardboard facility is strongly preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Management.
- Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills.
- Proficient in MRP/ERP systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound decision-making and negotiation abilities.
- Advanced data analysis and reporting capabilities.
- Experience in inventory management, procurement, and planning.
- Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g. ISO, FSC Chain of Custody, H&S, QMS).
JOB DUTIES:
Supply and Capacity Planning
- Lead capacity and supply planning to meet customer and market demand.
- Communicate regularly with customers, ensuring accurate and timely communication of demand to Production leadership, and shipping/transportation/delivery requirements to the Warehouse team.
- Proactively manage supply gaps, shortfalls, and transitions, providing escalation support for key markets/customers.
- Participate in Supply Chain meetings, removing roadblocks and driving alignment across teams.
Procurement and Vendor Management
- Purchase raw materials and consumables in line with policy, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Monitor supplier performance and negotiate pricing and terms to optimize value and service.
- Manage and build supplier relationships.
System and Process Improvement
- Maintain and improve MRP system data accuracy and reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, cost control, and service delivery.
Inventory and Material Management
- Coordinate with Warehouse Supervisor to manage inventory levels, cycle counts, safety stock, and material availability to support production plans
- Analyze stock data to ensure alignment with targets and budgets; manage redundant materials per policy.
- Raise and manage material orders in the MRP system; monitor and expedite deliveries as needed.
Reporting and Analysis
- Provide regular reporting on supply, capacity, inventory, and performance metrics.
- Deliver ad hoc analysis and insights to support decision making and continuous improvement.
Collaboration and Leadership
- Coach supply chain team members, fostering a positive, high-performing culture.
- Collaborate with Operations, Sales, and corporate functions to align Supply Chain strategies with business goals.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management processes.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, Health and Safety, QMS, FSC Chain of Custody, and audit requirements.
- Report hazards, incidents, and non-conformances; support corrective and preventive actions.
