Mechanical Designer – Pipe Fabrication & Modular Systems

What You Need
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer or Detailer in industrial piping or structural fabrication environments
- Proficiency with Navisworks for model navigation, extraction, and coordination
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for 2D drafting and detailing
- Strong understanding of pipe spool fabrication practices including welding, fit-up, and fabrication workflows
- Ability to read and interpret:
- P&IDs
- Isometric drawings
- Specifications
- Project and fabrication documents
- Working knowledge of piping materials, fittings, valves, and supports
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on constructability and fabrication accuracy
- Effective communication skills in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Spoolfab for spool management and fabrication workflows
- Experience with Tekla Structures for structural steel or modular coordination
- Familiarity with ASME piping codes including:
- ASME B31.1
- ASME B31.3
- Exposure to modular or prefabricated piping assemblies
- Experience with ERP systems or digital production tracking tools
What You Will Do
- Produce fabrication-ready spool drawings from models and contract documents
- Generate detailed 2D fabrication packages including:
- Weld symbols
- Dimensions
- Material specifications
- Coordinate with project teams to align drawings with fabrication sequencing and production priorities
- Incorporate field redlines and updates while ensuring code compliance and quality standards
- Support prefabrication planning, material tracking, and model-based takeoffs
- Maintain drawing control and participate in quality and constructability reviews
