As a CDL Delivery Driver at Hartville Hardware — Middlefield, you are responsible for ensuring building materials, hardware, and lumber reach our customers and job sites safely and on time. Every day brings new routes, customer interactions, and the satisfaction of knowing your work keeps projects moving.
This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, safety, and the ability to handle and unload materials efficiently. Your interaction at the job site is often the last impression we make — and we count on you to make it a great one.
- Operate company vehicles — flatbeds, box trucks, or other CDL-class vehicles — in full compliance with DOT regulations and company policies
- Deliver orders to customers' homes, businesses, and job sites with accuracy and on-time performance
- Secure loads properly to prevent shifting or damage during transport
- Plan routes efficiently using GPS, maps, and delivery instructions
- Represent Hartville Hardware professionally at every delivery — your interaction is often the last impression we make
- Deliver materials with a courteous, helpful demeanor
- Address customer questions or concerns on the spot and escalate to the team when needed
- Load and unload products using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual lifting
- Verify delivery accuracy by cross-checking items against invoices or packing slips before and after each delivery
- Handle all materials with care to prevent damage to customer orders
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections — report any maintenance or repair needs immediately
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of your assigned vehicle
- Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and job site safety rules
- Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations
- Work with warehouse and dispatch teammates to improve delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Communicate clearly on delivery status, issues, or delays
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Current DOT Medical Certificate or one received prior to hire date
- Clean driving record and must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred
- Experience with flatbed trucks and forklift operation is a strong plus
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
- Comfortable reading maps and using GPS systems and smartphones
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 75 lbs
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
