What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Accountant position at Hoxton Circle?
Are you a detail-driven accountant with a passion for construction finance? We're looking for a Project Accountant who thrives in fast-paced project environments and brings real expertise in AIA billing, job costing, and construction accounting software for an excellent and reputable client of ours.
What You'll Do:
- Manage full-cycle project accounting — job costing, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Monitor budgets and expenses, flag variances, and drive corrective action with project teams
- Process APs/ARs specific to construction; track subcontractor/vendor payments, lien releases, and contract compliance
- Prepare monthly financial statements and project status reports
- Document change orders, purchase orders, and billing with precision
- Collaborate with PMs and field staff to reconcile budgets
- Support audits and maintain compliance with GAAP and construction-specific financial standards
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3 years accounting experience, with 2 years in construction
- Proficiency in Sage 300 CRE, Procore, QuickBooks, or Viewpoint
- Strong command of AIA billing, billing cycles, and project financial reporting
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Bonus Points:
- Experience with construction contract management and GAAP compliance
