What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Analyst position at Hoxton Circle?
A well established nonprofit is looking for a Financial Analyst to join a small, experienced finance team on California's Central Coast.
This is a broad, high visibility role. You'll work across FP&A, external audit, debt and lease accounting, compliance filings, and board level financial presentations. What you'll be doing
You'll report to a Controller and take ownership across a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Monitoring and analyzing earned revenue, operating expenses, and capital project activity across the organization
- Preparing quarterly financial statements and supporting the annual external audit
- Recording and reconciling bond and debt-related transactions, including compliance reporting
- Maintaining lease accounting entries in line with applicable accounting standards
- Preparing complex financial analyses, dashboards, and board presentation materials
- Supporting the annual budget process and partnering with department leaders on budget accountability
- Developing financial models for new programs and capital initiatives
- Monitoring and reporting on cash flow and reserve allocations
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and GASB, particularly in a governmental or nonprofit context
- Experience in public sector, or nonprofit finance
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort with ERP systems, reporting tools, and data queries
- Solid written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines without losing attention to detail
A plus:
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials or a comparable enterprise system (Banner, Workday, Oracle)
- Experience with bond/debt accounting or lease accounting under GASB 87
- Prior involvement in Form 990 preparation or federal financial survey filings
