The Patient Access Specialist serves as the first point of contact for patients entering Hoskinson Health & Wellness Clinic. This position is responsible for greeting patients, verifying demographic and insurance information, scheduling appointments, and supporting the overall efficiency of front-desk and registration operations. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Greet and assist patients in a courteous, professional manner during the check-in and registration process.
Collect, verify, and update patient demographic, insurance, and financial information accurately.
Schedule appointments, procedures, and follow-up visits based on physician availability and patient needs.
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, ensuring accurate billing and reimbursement.
Inform patients of financial responsibilities, including co-pays, deductibles, and payment options.
Enter and maintain accurate patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and related systems.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and clinic privacy regulations at all times.
Provide high-quality customer service by addressing patient inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure a smooth and efficient patient flow.
Support daily front office operations, including scanning, filing, and document management.
Stay current on healthcare regulations, patient access policies, and payer requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Patient Access Manager or Clinic Leadership.
Education / Certifications / Licenses
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Completion of a medical office, healthcare administration, or billing/coding certification program
Experience
Minimum 3 years of customer service experience required
Prior experience in a healthcare or clinic setting strongly preferred
Experience with patient registration, scheduling, or insurance verification highly desirable
Required Skills & Abilities
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and general computer applications (Microsoft Office, email, databases)
Working knowledge of insurance verification, medical billing basics, and payer processes
Understanding of patient privacy laws (HIPAA) and compliance standards
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Professional demeanor with a commitment to exceptional patient experience
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and computer work

Visual acuity sufficient to review detailed records and perform data entry
