About the Role
We’re looking for a Payroll Manager who’s passionate about precision, people, and process. In this key leadership role, you’ll oversee payroll operations across both of our growing organizations, ensuring every team member is paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with all regulations.
You’ll collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to streamline systems, elevate accuracy, and support our employees through excellence in payroll administration.

What You’ll Do
Leadership & Oversight
Lead a skilled payroll team to ensure accurate, on-time processing for all employees.
Partner with Finance to oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting.
Manage HRIS and payroll system updates, integrations, and vendor coordination.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and internal policies.
Payroll Operations
Process multi-state, bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees.
Review and approve all payroll entries, deductions, and adjustments.
Ensure accurate calculation and remittance of payroll taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
Oversee year-end reporting, including W-2s and ACA compliance.
Reconcile and maintain data integrity across HRIS and financial systems.
Collaboration & Support
Work closely with HR on onboarding, terminations, pay changes, and leave management.
Prepare regular payroll and workforce reports for HR and Finance leadership.
Serve as the point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and escalations.
Partner with auditors and provide accurate payroll documentation as needed.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes, systems, and reporting accuracy.
Stay up to date on changes in payroll regulations and best practices.
Support compensation planning, budgeting, and workforce forecasting.
What You Bring
Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or Business Administration (required)
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) credential (preferred)
Experience
5 years of payroll administration, including 2 years in a leadership role
Experience managing multi-state payroll (union/non-union preferred)
Proficiency with Paylocity, ADP, Paychex, or similar systems
Background in construction, healthcare, or other labor-intensive industries preferred
Skills & Strengths
Expert understanding of payroll practices, tax laws, and labor regulations
Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and HRIS/payroll systems
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Discreet and professional in handling confidential information
Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities with ease

Salary : $70,000 - $125,000
