This is a full-time on-site role for a High School English Teacher at Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park, located in Chicago, IL. Responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging English Language Arts lessons, assessing student progress, and adapting instructional practices to accommodate diverse learning needs. The teacher will also develop lesson plans, manage classroom behavior, collaborate with colleagues, and engage with parents to support students’ academic growth. Additionally, the role involves preparing students for standardized assessments, supporting extracurricular activities, and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Proficiency in English Language Arts instruction, including reading, writing, and literary analysis
- Skills in lesson planning, curriculum development, and differentiated instruction
- Strong classroom management, student assessment, and behavior intervention skills
- Effective collaboration with colleagues, students, and parents to support educational objectives
- Possession of a valid Illinois teaching license with an endorsement in English or Secondary Education
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
- Experience with technology in the classroom and familiarity with blended learning models is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Secondary Education, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred
