We are seeking a strategic, experienced, and mission-driven Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to join our executive leadership team.
Position Summary
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for developing and executing the organization’s human resources strategy in alignment with Hope Christian Services’ mission, vision, and long-term strategic goals.
This role oversees all aspects of Human Resources, including:
- Talent acquisition and retention
- Employee relations
- Organizational development
- Compensation and benefits
- Performance management
- Training and leadership development
- Compliance and policy administration
- Succession planning
- Workplace culture and engagement
The CHRO provides strategic guidance to senior leadership while ensuring HR operations remain compliant, effective, employee-focused, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that support organizational growth and operational excellence.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership regarding workforce planning, employee engagement, organizational structure, and change management.
- Lead succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
Talent Acquisition & Retention
- Develop and oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain high-quality talent.
- Support managers with workforce planning and staffing needs across departments.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Provide guidance and oversight related to employee relations, investigations, corrective action, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
- Ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant employment practices.
- Oversee performance evaluation systems and leadership accountability processes.
Compensation & Benefits
- Oversee compensation, benefits, leave administration, and wellness initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with COBRA, FMLA, ADA, wage and hour laws, and other employment regulations.
- Partner with brokers, vendors, and consultants regarding benefits and workers’ compensation administration.
Training & Organizational Development
- Lead orientation, in-service training, leadership development, and compliance training programs.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and employee engagement.
Compliance & HR Operations
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and Department of Human Services regulations.
- Maintain and improve HR systems, policies, procedures, and reporting practices.
- Respond to unemployment claims, audits, inspections, and investigations as needed.
Culture & Employee Engagement
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and mission-centered workplace culture.
- Coordinate employee recognition programs, appreciation events, and staff engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR leadership or management experience required.
- Experience in healthcare, developmental disabilities, nonprofit, or human services preferred.
Preferred Certifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.

- Experience with HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems
