Looking for something beyond a typical medical assistant role?
Holistic Wellness & Psychiatry is an integrative psychiatry and mental health practice in Cedar Rapids seeking a dependable, compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our clinical team.
Our practice combines traditional psychiatry with innovative treatments including Spravato®, ketamine therapy, functional medicine, and metabolic health services. This is a hands-on clinical role with the opportunity to develop skills in areas most outpatient MA positions don't offer.
We are looking for someone who is organized, clinically confident, warm with patients, and able to thrive in a practice where no two days are exactly alike.
Schedule: Approximately 30–40 hours per week, Monday–Friday. No weekends or on-call.
What You'll Do
- Room patients and obtain vital signs
- Assist providers with outpatient psychiatric and medical visits
- Support Spravato® and ketamine treatment days, with training provided
- Monitor patients during treatments according to established protocols
- Perform injections and other medication administration within scope
- Assist with laboratory orders, specimen collection, and coordination of results
- Support our functional medicine and metabolic health programs
- Process medication refill requests and communicate with pharmacies
- Help coordinate referrals and follow-up clinical care
- Maintain accurate and timely EHR documentation
- Prepare treatment rooms and maintain clinical supplies
- Follow medication-management, infection-control, HIPAA, and patient-safety procedures
- Work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, therapists, and administrative staff
Who We're Looking For
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred; experienced RMA/MA candidates may also be considered
- Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain/maintain certification
- Strong clinical and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently while also functioning as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Warm, professional communication with patients
- Reliable and able to manage changing clinical priorities
- Comfortable working with patients receiving treatment for mental health conditions
Experience in psychiatry, behavioral health, specialty medicine, injections, medication administration, or EHR systems is helpful but not required.
Prior ketamine or Spravato® experience is not required — we will train you.
