What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Manager - HVDC position at Hitachi Energy?
Sales Manager – HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) | Raleigh, NC - Hitachi Energy
Shape the future of energy. Power the transition.
At Hitachi Energy, we are looking for a dynamic and strategic Sales Manager to lead pursuits for large-scale HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) projects. This is not a traditional sales role—this is about driving complex, system-level solutions that enable the global energy transition.
If you’re passionate about high-voltage transmission, renewable integration, and large infrastructure projects, this opportunity puts you at the forefront of transforming how power moves across regions, countries, and continents.
Your Impact
As a Sales Manager in our HVDC business, you will:
- Lead the development and execution of strategies for multi-million-dollar HVDC projects
- Understand customer needs and translate them into innovative system-level solutions
- Assess project viability from technical, financial, competitive, and risk perspectives
- Identify optimal partners, suppliers, and contract execution strategies
- Initiate and lead cross-functional capture teams, maintaining momentum across multi-year sales cycles
- Prepare materials for internal governance and support executive decision-making
- Represent Hitachi Energy in high-level negotiations for complex infrastructure deals
- Uphold our core values of safety, integrity, and compliance
What Makes This Role Unique
- You are not selling a product—you are shaping integrated power system solutions
- Work on projects that connect offshore wind to onshore grids, enable cross-border transmission, and support grid stability at scale
- Engage in long-term strategic pursuits (2–5 year cycles), not transactional sales
- Be part of a globally recognized leader in HVDC and transmission technology
Your Background
- We’re looking for someone who brings both technical depth and commercial leadership:
- 12 years of experience in the energy industry (EPC projects, transmission & distribution, utilities, or grid development)
- Strong experience in complex sales pursuits and closing large-scale contracts
- Background in HVDC, high-voltage systems, or transmission infrastructure (highly preferred)
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or System Engineering (preferred)
- Proven ability to influence and manage executive-level stakeholders
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across global, matrixed environments
- Strong communication skills—able to simplify complex solutions clearly and concisely
What We Value
- A solution-oriented mindset—you understand both what is possible and what is not
- Ability to navigate complex, ambiguous challenges and drive outcomes
- Persistence and resilience across long sales cycles
- Credibility as a trusted advisor to customers and partners
Additional Information
