About The Role
Myticas Consulting is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a hybrid contract-to-hire role with a leading corporate client in the Philadelphia area. You will own the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, ensure strong internal controls, and support internal and external audits. This engagement is W2 only (no C2C).
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the month-end close and reporting process in alignment with the reporting calendar
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, providing coaching, feedback, and oversight of account reconciliations
- Review, analyze, and approve general ledger transactions, journal entries, and balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Oversee preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial analyses
- Identify, research, and resolve accounting issues and reconciling items, escalating with recommended solutions when needed
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with internal controls
- Maintain and update process documentation, checklists, and month-end close calendars to ensure timely and complete execution of tasks
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party service providers to drive smooth financial operations and process improvements
- Conduct independent analysis to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and improved accuracy in accounting processes
- Must be based within daily commuting distance of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, with the ability to work onsite 2–3 days per week in a hybrid schedule
- At least 7 years of professional accounting or audit experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a people-manager role
- Current or recent (within the last 1–2 years) experience managing teams responsible for core general ledger functions, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and audit support
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BBA or BS)
- Proficiency with at least one major ERP system (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Great Plains, NetSuite), plus experience using Blackline for account reconciliations and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (complex spreadsheets, functions, pivot tables)
- Master’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field
- Active CPA designation or documented progress toward CPA certification
- Experience with international accounting and/or multi-entity consolidations
- Experience working with accelerated month-end close timelines of 3–5 days
- Strong project management experience, including driving process improvements and managing change
